Hi, I’m Issy Howes, a photographer and filmmaker based in Poole and Bournemouth, on the south coast of England.
In my photography, I focus mainly on monochrome architecture and street scenes. I’m drawn to black and white because it strips away distraction and reveals the essence of a scene — texture, contrast, and mood. Through my work, I aim to find beauty in quiet, often overlooked moments.
While my photography is primarily monochrome, I use colour in my filmmaking, and I’m still exploring and developing my visual style. My journey started when I was young — my dad and brother were both into photography, and I naturally picked up a camera alongside them. And what began as curiosity has grown into a true passion.
I also took photography GCSE, which helped me understand the technical and creative sides of the craft and deepened my desire to learn more. Recently, after watching new films and TV shows, I’ve become inspired to pursue filmmaking — discovering how storytelling through motion can be just as powerful as through stills.
